THE ROAD
Frequently Asked Questions
What is The Road?
The Road is a personal development program exclusively offered by Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. The Road is designed specifically for the needs of today’s student by focusing on the core areas of Health and Wellness, Financial Security, Life Skills, Leadership Development, and Career Development.
What is the mission statement of The Road?
The Road promotes the personal development of brothers through intentional and empowering programming designed for today’s student. A chapter that embraces The Road will produce brothers better prepared for the duties of life. Our Core Tenets are Educate, Inspire, Learn, Live.
Why The Road?
After years of studying our students and surveying them we discovered that many of our undergraduates were graduating without the proficiency of some key life skills that would help them be successful alumni. After two years of a pilot program on member education we have partnered with a company called Leading to Change to develop The Road. Our undergraduate members have chosen the five core areas of The Road.
How can I participate in The Road?
Every chapter has the opportunity to have a Road experience! Currently, the Chapter Leadership Consultants are delivering Road Connections while they make their visits to the chapters. Chapters should make sure to schedule one or two Connections per visit from your Consultant.
So I can only participate in The Road when my Chapter Consultant makes his visit?
No, not at all! There are many different ways to participate in The Road. Attending a Divisional Leadership Conference, Karnea, The Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute, Futures Quest, or a Leadership Academy are other great ways to participate in The Road. Completing the Delts Talking About Alcohol (DTAA) program as a new member is also part of The Road. Any presentation given to the chapter or activity that can relate to the 5 key areas of The Road will help lead you to a good, decent, clean, and manly life.
What other kind of activities can we do that would be part of The Road?
There are many different types of activities that can help augment your learning on The Road. This document has a list of various activities to help get you started – but there are so many more activities you can do besides the ones listed!
I really enjoyed The Road Connection our Consultant delivered on his last visit. Is it possible for me to facilitate this again without the Consultant?
Currently our only delivery mechanism for a Road Connection is the Chapter Consultants. We are working on developing future Connections that alumni volunteers and undergraduates alike can deliver.
I liked what I heard during a Road Connection, but I want to know more information. Is there a website where I can get more info?
Yes! Alumni and other experts are posting new articles on our blog weekly! You should keep coming back to the blog to see new posts and to learn new information from seasoned alumni who are writing based on their experiences. We also have supporting documents under each Road section on this website.
The Road is what Delta Tau Delta needs – how can I help?
While we are still developing Connections that both alumni and undergraduates can deliver without the Consultants guiding hand there are still other ways that you can help. If you are an alumnus and you want to post on our Blog as a Guest Author, please contact Jeremy Berggren for more information.
How is The Road being funded?
Member Education and Leadership Development’s operating budget do not run off of the annual dues of the members of the Fraternity. Our operating budget comes from a grant from the Educational Foundation. While The Road and member education was a key initiative of the Sesquicentennial Campaign and we reached the campaign’s goal, not all of our initiatives were fully funded. The Road is always accepting the Time, Talents, and Treasure of our alumni to help inspire and educate the undergraduates while being on The Road. If you would like to give to The Road please follow this link – Thank you for your support! (On the second page of the pledge form, please click Other and type: Member Education Program – Thank you!)
